Laura Shacham - Producer

After a chance encounter in a dimly lit Parisian cafe in 2007, I did an about-turn on a life in human rights law and began editing the scripts and assisting production on the films of a gaggle of young filmmakers in France. Since then, and now back in London, I’ve worked with artists, filmmakers, organisations, agencies and charities to tell real stories, upend untruths, translate dreams and make work that provokes and pesters, as much as it delights.

She Makes is home to work I produce, consult on and production manage - from broadcast and theatrical documentary films to short and long-form artist moving image. Recent partners include the BBC, Channel 4, Al Jazeera English, Screen South, Film and Video Umbrella, Film London, the Sundance Documentary Film Program, Wellcome Trust, the Barbican Centre and Livity UK. I was a Sheffield Doc/Fest Future Producer 2016.
